AI and Transparency

How I Use AI in My Practice

I want to be open with you about how artificial intelligence (AI) tools feature in my work, because transparency and trust sit at the heart of good therapy.

What AI is used for

I sometimes use AI tools to support the background of my practice. This includes drafting and refining written resources (such as handbooks, workbooks, blog posts, and information sheets), organising administrative tasks, and developing ideas for therapeutic materials. Where AI assists with this work, the clinical thinking, professional judgement, and final decisions remain entirely my own. Every resource I share is reviewed, adapted, and grounded in my training as a psychotherapist and former GP. AI never replaces professional judgement or the human connection at the heart of therapeutic work.

What AI is never used for

Your therapy itself is human, confidential, and personal. I do not use AI to:

  • Conduct, replace, or sit in on our sessions
  • Make clinical decisions or assessments about you
  • Process, store, or analyse your personal or session information
  • Generate responses, interpretations, or advice specific to you

Our conversations, your notes, and anything you share with me are kept confidential in line with my privacy notice and professional obligations under BACP and UK data protection law. I do not enter identifiable client information into any AI system.

Why I am telling you this

AI is now part of many areas of life, and I believe you have a right to know where it does and does not feature in the care you receive. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please raise them with me at any time. I am always happy to talk it through.
